2004 Non Destructive Pavement Evaluation Program -
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA)
Project includes planning, development and implementation of scope of work for periodic airfield pavement testing. Non-destructive test procedures are used to evaluate the pavement using FWD, HWD, digital imaging of the pavement, airfield pavement smoothness testing and analysis, asset management and other innovative pavement technologies.
Performed visual surveys and computed the Pavement Condition Index data (PCI), assist in data analysis, and prepare final engineering reports. Projects also involved pavement failure investigations of the failed pavements to determine the cause of failure and to make repair, rehabilitation and/or reconstruction recommendations.
Efforts also include capturing all the collected data for the past several years on an ACCESS database to facilitate proper planning in streamlining the pavement Non Destructive Testing program at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
As a result of the above tests and analyses, ACCURA has recommended to the City of Atlanta / Department of Aviation to reconstruct or replace approximately 2.3 million square feet of concrete pavement area, including Runway 08R/26L, of H-JAIA by the year 2010.
